Dr George Petrou’s expertise was previously only available in specialised centres in major cities. Originally from Sydney, he relocated to Port Macquarie in January 2008. As a practising liver oncology surgeon in Sydney, Dr George Petrou has achieved a vast experience in surgery of the liver and the biliary tract. His training in liver surgery has taken him from the Gold Coast to Melbourne, and also to the United States of America, where he has been actively involved in courses in minimally invasive surgery involving the liver, and the gastrointestinal tract. Dr Petrou’s technical skill in Bariatric and Hernia surgery are world class. Dr Petrou focuses on thoroughly exploring a patient’s suitability to a procedure and works with a multi disciplinary team of specialist physicians and health professionals to gain and provide optimal knowledge and care of a patient. He has first hand bariatric experience with both Professor Kelvin Higga of the Heart and Surgical Hospital, Fresno in the USA and Dr Robert Rutledge, the ‘creator’ of the Mini Gastric Bypass.

Dr Petrou attends regular International workshops enabling our team progressive knowledge including SAGES and International Federation of Surgery for Obesity and Metabollic Disorders (IFSO).

Louise Petrou

Louise Petrou has been awarded Board Certification by the American Association of Bariatric Counselors (AABC). After completing a specialised training and education programme in bariatric science she was credentialed as Board Certified (CBC). She has completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychology with the University of Adelaide, most recently completing a professional development course specific to online counselling with Monash University to help her support rural and remote patients. She is a member of IFSO, ANZMOSS, AACBT and ANZAED. Louise is an Editorial Reviewer for Obesity Surgery: The Journal of Metabolic Surgery and Allied Care. Working under Dr Petrou’s direct guidance to deliver patient support during our bariatric and hernia surgery program, Louise is available after hours and weekends to offer support in the immediate post op phase, allowing a unique benefit to our patients. Louise also developed a patient support group as she has believes people feel a little less isolated and alone, benefitting from long-term from social support and regular engagement with others who understand.
Annette Supple

Our Practice Manager Annette is a caring and capable person. Having Annette at the helm gives comfort to patients and our team. She is always happy to help and will guide you with the really crucial details of the patient journey. You will never feel lost, Annette is always looking for solutions.  She has a Diploma in Banking and Finance and spent the first half of her career in customer focused roles. This background allows her to assist patients to easily understand quotes, health fund and medicare rebates. Annette spent the second half of her career in the fast paced Orthodontics industry working to assist hundreds of families with health funds and payment plans. Having grown up in Port Macquarie, she has also worked in both Melbourne and Sydney before returning to raise a family. Despite her hectic role, Annette always manages to retain a sense of humour.
Jill McKittrick

As a valuable member of our team Jill efficiently deciphers important health information for patient paperwork flow and coordinates the health journey. The tangible benefit Jill makes to our practice is enormous. Jill has previously worked within a family medical practice locally and has a passion for patient advocacy. Her warmth and high level of understanding shines through from your first phone call. With a Bachelor of Medical Science, her background knowledge is an asset. Jill works closely with Dr Petrou to ensure patient information is handled with extreme care and this assists Dr Petrou to execute day to day treatment plans. Jill is truly a ‘Jill of all trades’. With her husband and family, Jill runs a beautiful working property near Ellenborough. Jill is involved in the sheep-milking and cheese-making process her husband undertakes and their high-quality products are sold widely. (We don’t mind the samples coming to the office either!).
Dodge Petrou

Our Therapy Dog Dodge was rescued in 2014 during a thunder storm in Port Macquarie. He comes to the office on days when there is no patient consultation. His calm presence adds to the ambience of our productive practice.
Jess Petrou

Jess the Kelpie is a very keen walker and always available to get our team off an office chair and on to a pavement, beach or stretch of grass. She sometimes visits on non-consult days.
